ESG deploys a portable microseismic mine monitoring system at the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research

ESG has successfully deployed the first portable microseismic mine monitoring system for the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research in Asansol India.

The mine monitoring system was specifically made mobile by mounting the acquisition systems and centralized computer in a bus, enabling it to be transported to various locations for different monitoring projects.

In its first deployment, the CIMFR used the microseismic system to determine if tunnels in a coal mine were collapsing and affecting the stability of train tracks running on the surface above the mine. Sensors mounted on the surface of the mine adjacent to the tracks were connected to the monitoring system within the bus
to detect the extent to which the seismicity may be affecting ground stability.

The CIMFR represents ESG’s first mining research project within India.
