Microseismic Railway Monitoring Deployment

ESG is pleased to announce the successful installation of its first Microseismic Railway Monitoring System deployed in conjunction with Alstom Signaling for Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railway (BNSF) in the state of Oregon.

The innovative Microseismic Railway Monitoring System (MRMS) is the result of a joint collaboration between ESG and Alstom Signaling. The MRMS uses ESG’s Paladin™ data acquisition unit and seismic sensors installed along the edges of the tracks to
monitor ground motion and detect potentially unsafe events such as rock falls,
derailments and collisions. The MRMS interfaces with Alstom’s signal system to automatically notify approaching trains of the hazard.

The MRMS is a scalable technology which can be used around the world on railways that are prone to hazards and rockslides.
