GeotechESG Applies Microseismic Monitoring to Hydroelectric DamsJanuary 5, 2010 - 3:08pm — KatieESG is pleased to announce the successful incorporation of their microseismic monitoring systems to hydroelectric dams in Iraq and China. Specifically, the Paladin™ Dam Monitoring System has been installed in seven hydro-electric dams in Iraq and one at the Jinping Hydroelectric Dam in Schuan province in China. Benefits of Geotechnical MonitoringContinuous Feedback ESG’s geotechnical solutions allow for continuous recording of all seismic activity. Operators will have a continuous record of all seismic activity which they can analyze for trends to see if structural integrity is changing over time. This stream of seismic feedback can be cross correlated with other parameters to provide a robust data platform for advanced analysis. Improve safety Underground StorageOur underground storage systems incorporate microseismics, temperature and pressure data into one fully integrated monitoring platform, covering everything from integrated acquisition through to visualization. Structural MonitoringDam Monitoring—ESG‘s Paladin™ based monitoring systems can be deployed to monitor dam structures and water reservoirs. During the initial filling of dam reservoirs, changes in pressures and loads can cause considerable stress redistributions within the surrounding rockmass. Seismic events that occur around the reservoir basin or at the dam/rock interface can be recorded, located and visualized on a 3D map of the area, providing a continuous evaluation of structural integrity. Other dam monitoring applications include: OverviewESG offers custom seismic equipment for monitoring underground caverns, tunnels, and structures such as dams, bridges, railway tracks and buildings. Our instrumentation and services have become the industry standard for many unique environments that require careful monitoring of the surrounding rockmass.
