Benefits of Microseismic Reservoir Monitoring

Enhance understanding of reservoir processes

ResMap™ is a cost-effective means of developing a clear understanding of the subsurface processes occurring within the reservoir. Microseismic data can be correlated with production data and integrated into an existing geologic or reservoir model to provide a comprehensive tool for long-term reservoir management. Operators can validate existing models and establish a stronger baseline of information upon which to base decisions.

Cost-effective

ResMap™ is far less costly than conventional 4D surveys and unlike most active source programs, microseismic monitoring provides a continuous flow of information, providing a dynamic view of how reservoir conditions are changing at any point of time. ResMap™ also has the benefit of being deployable in a far greater variety of environmental conditions, including ones where it is simply unfeasible to use active source surveys.

Optimize and enhance recovery operations

Microseismic monitoring gives asset teams the ability to visualize where in the reservoir their EOR or steam injections are going, and the manner in which they are moving, thereby allowing them to exert more control over their treatments. Clients can use this information to determine optimal pressure rates, identify bypassed regions and ensure injection compliance to targeted zones.

Minimize hazards and reduce risk

ResMap™ has a proven track record of reducing producer’s exposure to environmental and safety risks. Through advanced detection of well casing failures and caprock and buffer zones breaches, clients can ensure that they are demonstrating due diligence and satisfying regulatory compliance. A field wide monitoring program gives clients the ability to react in real-time to potentially dangerous hazards such as surface uplift or injections that are going out of zone.
