ESG is currently recruiting three enthusiastic individuals to join an expanding team on a permanent, full-time basis.  

Job Description

The successful applicant will join ESG’s Engineering and Design Department. The Design Engineer will contribute to designing advanced data acquisition systems which will be deployed for the purpose of optimizing oil extraction in the petroleum industry.
Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Design, implementation and testing of cutting edge seismic monitoring equipment.
  • Design of deep bore-hole sensor tools and specialized data acquisition equipment
  • Development of low noise analog electronics for signal conditioning
  • Exposure to a wide variety of technologies including microprocessor systems, web-enabled hardware, analog-digital conversion, wireless, fiber-optic, photovoltaic equipment
  • Performing schematic capture and printed-circuit-board design/layout (ORCAD)
  • Using Verilog/VHDL, Assembly code, C++ and Linux for low-level firmware control of system behaviour.

ESG serves a global market and has installations in many countries around the world.  As such the successful applicant may be required to travel to remote client sites to install, commission and maintain monitoring systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.Sc. in Electronics/Electrical Engineering
  • Must be eligible and willing to obtain P.Eng designation
  • 0-8 years experience…new grads are welcome, relevant experience is an asset
  • Experience with hands-on electronic design and prototyping
  • Strong practical understanding of analog electronics including op-amps and transistors
  • Understanding of analog filtering and DSP filtering theory is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to debug electronics, design tests and solve problems
  • Strong interdisciplinary understanding with Mechanical Engineering will be an asset 
  • Able to travel both internationally and domestically
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
