How it WorksThe ResMap™ solution is a synergistic combination of ESG’s instrumentation, software and services. Custom built sensor arrays are deployed down observation wells (and combined with surface monitoring units if necessary) to ‘listen’ to the microseismic activity taking place in the reservoir. ESG’s baseline sensor configuration features a multi-level downhole array of dual 3-component geophones. These highly sensitive arrays are omni-directional and can operate in any orientation, even highly deviated wells. Arrays are typically deployed on production tubing and cemented in place, although they can be also be temporarily installed on retrievable bowsprings, wireline trucks or custom built clamping tools.
The microseismic events associated with production treatments (EOR, waterflood, thermal) are captured using ESG’s Paladin™ data acquisition systems. These low power devices are suitable for remote monitoring stations and can be powered by solar panels. Once the auto processing is complete, the microseismic data is transmitted via satellite to ESG’s offices for advanced processing and analysis. Images of the microseismic events are displayed in an interactive 3D format and are uploaded back to the client sites for quick and simple interpretation.
